Sydney Cloud & Datacenter Convention

Turbo 360 shot the Sydney Cloud & Datacenter Convention at ICC Sydney with same-day, facial-recognition delivery and branded, shareable galleries.

When the Sydney Cloud & Datacenter Convention rolled into ICC Sydney, Turbo 360 was on the floor as the event photographer, capturing one of the data centre industry's busiest days on the calendar. Held at Australia's premier convention venue on the edge of Darling Harbour, the convention brought together operators, cloud providers, engineers, investors, sponsors and vendors from across the sector, and our job was to document all of it while getting the images into people's hands the moment they were taken.

The Sydney Cloud & Datacenter Convention is part of the W.Media series of events that runs across the Asia Pacific region, bringing the cloud and data centre community together to talk infrastructure, power, cooling, connectivity and the surge in demand driven by AI. It is a high-energy mix of keynote stages, panel discussions and a packed exhibition floor, which makes it a rewarding and fast-moving day for a photographer.
What we covered
Turbo 360 provided photography for the full event on behalf of W.Media. A single photographer worked the room end to end, covering the moments that matter to organisers, sponsors and delegates alike:
- Registration, arrivals and the buzz of the exhibition floor
- Keynote and fireside sessions on the main stages
- Sponsor and exhibitor stands, including product demos and stand teams
- Networking breaks, candid conversations and the social side of the day

What we delivered
The headline for this gig was speed. Rather than making everyone wait days for a gallery, we delivered images progressively on the same day, so photos were live and downloadable while the convention was still running. Every image landed in a branded gallery that delegates, speakers, sponsors and vendors could open immediately.
We paired that with facial recognition, which changed how people found themselves in the coverage. Instead of scrolling through hundreds of frames, attendees could take a quick selfie and be shown their own photos in seconds. Around half of the attendees who identified themselves found their pictures this way.

That immediacy turned coverage into marketing. Of the people we emailed about new photos, 79% came back and downloaded a branded image. Because every download carried the event's logo, those photos travelled straight onto LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and across WhatsApp, putting the convention's branding in front of a much wider professional audience. It is a simple, genuine form of viral marketing: the people in the room become the ones sharing the event.

Covering an event of this scale with a lean setup meant staying efficient, reading the run sheet, and prioritising the shots that organisers, sponsors and delegates would actually want to use. The result was a complete visual record of the day, delivered fast enough to be useful while the convention was still in full swing.
