Online Development · 2026-06-24

Turbo 360 built a new responsive website, Icecast live streaming, fire ratings integration, and mobile apps for UGFM Radio Murrindindi — Australia's first Community Radio Emergency Broadcaster.

UGFM Website - Redevelopment

Some digital projects carry real weight. When UGFM Radio Murrindindi came to Turbo 360 for a full website redevelopment, we knew we were working with a station that matters deeply to its community. We were proud to deliver a modern, future-ready web presence worthy of the role UGFM plays in the region.

About UGFM Radio Murrindindi

UGFM has been the voice of the Murrindindi region since 1994, broadcasting local news, music, and community information across five FM transmitters covering Alexandra, Yea, Marysville, Flowerdale, and the Kinglake Ranges. The station runs on a team of more than 45 volunteer presenters and holds a distinction few stations in the country can claim: it is Australia's first Community Radio Emergency Broadcaster, a title officially recognised by the Victorian Government following UGFM's critical role during the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires. When emergencies strike in regional Victoria, people tune in to UGFM. That context shapes everything about what a good website needs to do for them.

What We Covered

Turbo 360 took on the full redevelopment of the UGFM website from the ground up. The brief was clear: deliver a site that is modern, fast, reliable, and genuinely useful to listeners across the region and beyond. Our scope included:

UGFM community radio broadcast studio in Alexandra with mixing desk, microphone and on-air monitors
Inside the UGFM studio in Alexandra — the heartbeat of community broadcasting in the Murrindindi Shire.

What We Delivered

The finished product is a clean, responsive website that works just as well on a mobile phone in the Kinglake Ranges as it does on a desktop in Alexandra. Key deliverables included:

For a station whose mandate includes keeping people safe during emergencies, reliability is not optional. Every technical decision we made was guided by that responsibility.

UGFM out in the field — the station's commitment to community coverage runs well beyond the studio walls.

It was genuinely rewarding to work on a project with this level of community purpose behind it. UGFM Radio Murrindindi has served its region for over 30 years, and we hope the new platform serves them for many more to come.
