The grounds at Cascade Brewery Bar do the heavy compositional lifting — manicured lawns, mature trees, the Reflection Ponds doubling the brewery's stone in still water. We treat the facade like a landmark shoot: wide establishing frames early, before guests arrive, then people-first coverage that keeps the building looming in the background rather than swallowing the subjects. Garden parties, brand launches and end-of-year functions spread naturally across the Lager Bar & Lower Terrace, which handles up to 80 standing, while the ponds suit intimate ceremonies of 20 to 30. The mountain behind the brewery catches late colour on clear evenings; we always hold ten minutes for it.
Inside The Lounge: brass, fire and Tasmanian oak
When the weather turns — this is the foothills, it will — the interiors carry the event. The Lounge seats 40 or takes 70 standing around a brass bar, an open fireplace and joinery cut from Tasmanian oak and raw steel; combined with the adjoining Courtyard it holds functions past the hundred mark. Firelight is a photographer's friend here. We shoot warm and shallow, letting the brass and timber glow, and keep flash for the formal group requests only. Product and brand shoots for the beer itself happen in this room for good reason, and corporate dinners inherit that same considered look.
Weddings and functions with a brewery's rhythm
Cascade is a working brewery and a public bar as well as a function venue, and good coverage respects its rhythms. We schedule couple portraits in the gardens for the hour before guests arrive or the golden slot before dinner, coordinate with venue staff on where public areas end and your private hire begins, and plan around the AV already in place — microphones, speakers and screens are available for speeches and presentation moments. For corporate groups, a short highlight film cut with garden wides, pouring taps and the facade at dusk has become one of our most requested Hobart deliverables.
