Crowne Plaza Hobart's level-four conference floor is built for exactly this scale — a 600-square-metre ballroom with 3.5-metre ceilings that divides into Centurion 1, 2 and 3 — and we've shaped our coverage approach around how the space actually runs on event day.
Shooting the Centurion floor from plenary to breakouts
Divisible ballrooms create a specific photography problem: three concurrent breakout sessions, one agenda, no second chances. We solve it with positioning rather than sprinting — long lens from the rear of Centurion 1, wide establishing frames as rooms reset, and a schedule mapped against yours so every speaker gets covered. Centurion 3 helps us out with floor-to-ceiling bi-fold glass doors that pour natural light into what would otherwise be a projector-lit room, keeping skin tones clean without heavy flash. The pre-function area is where the real conference story happens anyway — handshakes, badge scans, sponsor stands — and it's where we quietly build most of the candid gallery.
Centurion Sky, The Deck and the view that sells the city
Two spaces make Crowne Plaza Hobart genuinely unusual for a CBD hotel. Centurion Sky sits under a glass ceiling with retractable bi-fold doors and a straight view to kunanyi/Mt Wellington — at dusk, with the mountain going blue behind a cocktail reception, it's the best ambient-light room in the hotel. The Deck, an outdoor event space for up to 250 with overhead heating and a central fireplace, gives us flame-lit portraits and genuine atmosphere for winter functions. Twelve floors up, the Aura event space runs more intimate — 221 square metres suited to private dinners and executive gatherings, where we work quietly with fast primes rather than lighting rigs.
Deliverables timed to a conference agenda
Multi-day conferences need assets mid-event, not after it. We deliver same-day edits for closing-session screens, feed selects to your comms team between sessions, and run a headshot booth in the pre-function space that reliably becomes the most-visited corner of the sponsor area. Full galleries land within 48 hours. For hybrid programs we provide multi-camera live streaming from the ballroom, using the hotel's in-built AV infrastructure as our base and adding broadcast cameras where the feed needs them.

Can you photograph three simultaneous breakout streams in Centurion 1, 2 and 3?+
Yes. For divided-ballroom programs we either roster a second shooter or build a rotation timed to your session grid, so each stream gets speaker frames, audience reactions and slide-context shots. We agree the priority sessions with you beforehand rather than guessing on the day.
Is Centurion Sky workable for photography at night?+
It's one of our favourite rooms after dark. The glass ceiling brings in city glow, and we supplement with small off-camera lights that preserve the room's ambience instead of flattening it. Book your formal group portraits for dusk, when the sky still holds colour behind kunanyi.
Where do you set up a headshot booth at Crowne Plaza Hobart?+
The level-four pre-function area works best — delegates pass it at every break, and there's power and space for a backdrop without blocking trade tables. For smaller programs we've also run booths in Pandani on level five. Retouched headshots are typically delivered within 48 hours.
Can you turn footage around before the gala dinner ends?+
Yes — same-day edits are a standing option. We shoot the day's sessions, cut during the afternoon, and your sizzle reel plays as guests sit down in the ballroom that evening. It needs a locked run sheet and a preview slot, which we arrange directly alongside the hotel's AV crew.
