Twelve metres of ceiling height changes what a lighting designer can do — and what a camera has to cope with. The Star Event Centre is built like a broadcast studio wearing a ballroom's clothes: theatre seating for 3,000, concert-grade LED lighting, and productions that would not look out of place on television. Our crews shoot it accordingly, with show-file discipline rather than function-room habits.
Everything about the space anticipates production. The high ceiling carries serious rigging, the room reconfigures from tiered theatre to banquet floor, and the foyer handles pre-event receptions so arrivals coverage has a proper home before doors. The venue has staged boxing, touring concerts and national award ceremonies, which means your corporate event inherits infrastructure most hotels cannot offer — and it means we bring the long lenses, fast primes and multi-camera video kits those conditions demand. The Star's precinct position in Pyrmont, minutes from the CBD with light rail at the door, also keeps guest arrivals tidy for photographers working the red carpet.
Big rooms with moving lights punish improvised coverage. We attend the production rehearsal, plot winner walk-lines with your AV team, and lock a centre camera on the stage while a second shooter works tables and reactions. Colour is the quiet challenge at The Star Event Centre — LED washes shift hue cue to cue — so we shoot to a calibrated profile and grade the video so your brand colours stay true. Media-wall arrivals, sponsor signage passes and a same-day highlight edit for socials round out the standard awards package, with the full curated gallery delivered within 48 hours and priority winner selects supplied on the night for publicists working to morning deadlines.
Yes — that is the point of rehearsal attendance. Every winner moment, sting and reveal is on a cue sheet before doors open, and our positions are pre-agreed with the venue and your producer. Nothing about the show night should be a surprise to the people photographing it.
Comfortably. The room converts between formats, and plenty of clients run a conference by day and awards by night. One continuous crew covers both, which keeps the visual style consistent and saves you a second booking fee.
We expose for faces and let the colour washes do their work in the background, correcting skin tones in the edit rather than fighting the lighting design. If a moment absolutely must be neutral — major sponsor presentations, board photos — we coordinate a white-light cue with your AV operator.
Yes. The foyer takes a step-and-repeat wall and a lit headshot setup without crowding the entry flow. Executive headshots during conference breaks are one of the most-booked add-ons here, and images are retouched and delivered with the main gallery.
If your event is landing at The Star, let's talk through the show plan — call us, or flick the run sheet over and pricing comes back the same day.
